How do you get the strong, sculpted body and poised elegance of a dancer? Well, you can either put in hundreds of hours dedicating yourself to the practice, learn all the moves, push yourself to the very limits and become an actual dancer…or you could try out Xtend Barre. Taking inspiration from ballet, pilates and dance, Xtend Barre have been whipping up a storm in Australia and the US, and they’re finally bringing their adrenaline-fueled, limb-sculpting classes to London.
To make sure all the classes make the global standard built by the brand will be expert instructor Catie Miller, who herself is a former dancer. After receiving her Bachelor’s from Arizona State University, Catie began working as the Retail Manager for the highest grossing beauty counter within Selfridges, London with 100+ team members under her portfolio. After becoming pregnant, she rediscovered her love for fitness, wellbeing and dance with Xtend Barre. The classes enabled her to continue to workout safely and effectively, both pre and post pregnancy, and we’ve gotta say, it’s working for her. Girl, look at that body!
After meeting up with the toned and talented Xtend Barre women to shoot our new collab collection (coming soon to a studio near you), we grabbed Catie to chat studio launch, booty toning, and (of course) activewear.
Describe Xtend Barre in 3 words…
Effective. Evolving. Electric!
If you were to convince a fellow active girl to give Xtend a go, how would you describe a class and feeling you get from it to her?
Xtend Barre is for everyone! I frequently hear people say ‘I will come and try a class when I am in shape’ and I want them to know – start now. We have a dedicated, incredibly skilled and talented team of instructors ready to assist you in your health and wellness goals. Whether you are pregnant, post-natal, in rehab from an injury or ready to amplify your workout for further results, we have got you covered. The feeling and results I get from an Xtend Barre workout is so unbeatable. That’s what keeps me coming back for more!
What are you most excited about with opening up Europes first Xtend studio and bringing a form of movement you believe in to the women of London?
I am just so excited to share my passion with London! Xtend Barre incorporates all my loves—dance, fitness, community, and soul. Once you surround yourself with our incredible team and clients you realise we are so much more than a phenomenal workout!
Your go-to activewear look for an Xtend class?
I love anything compression! The Vie Active Rockell leggings (named after Xtend Barre Sydney owner) are a wardrobe must have. You also won’t catch me without a pair (or two) of grippy socks in my handbag because you never know when you might jump into a class!
Why is Xtend a great workout for mums-to-be or already mummas?
I discovered Xtend Barre during my pregnancy and to find something that was safe and effective pre-natal, post-natal and beyond exceeded all my expectations. Xtend Barre is safe for all pregnant clients (provided doctor approval) throughout their entire pregnancy. Following the pregnancy, we welcome our new mums back for our Babies on Board class that is a post-natal barre class designed to give new moms a dynamic workout and babies a bounce of laughter.
Best Xtend moves to shape the toosh?
It would have to be our famous Xtend Barre Fold Over! You will see this exercise in EVERY class, and there is a reason why. The fold over variations are always progressing and this exercise never gets old. It is the BEST exercise for bum sculpting and toning! Hello Glutes! 😉
How else do you like to keep your body ‘on pointe’ aside from Xtend?
I am an Xtend Barre lover! The exciting thing about Xtend is that we offer 12 separate variations of the classic Xtend Barre workout. Try waking up with an Xtend Yoga Flow, amplify your workout with our Circuit 7 or TRX inspired class Xtend Barre Suspend, or attend our classic Xtend Barre class, followed by a Roll & Release session to massage out those tired muscles. Meet you at the barre!
